As the Coordinator Safety and Prevention you will be responsible for coordinating the activities and functions of the Safety & Prevention Unit and promoting an effective risk minimisation culture throughout Council. Additionally you’ll assist Service Units in the implementation of policies, systems, procedures and strategies aimed at minimising public and employee risks and provide appropriate services and support to Managers and employees at all levels in matters relating to Occupational Health and Safety.

We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic professional with substantial experience in the development and implementation of OHS policies, systems, procedures and strategies that are leading edge and industry standard as well as:
- A qualification in OH&S or a related discipline
- Expertise in the standards and management techniques associated with Occupational Health and Safety and return to work functions and of relevant legislation
- Experience in developing and maintaining a risk minimisation culture in a complex, sensitive and often political environment
- Well-developed strategies for creating and developing high functioning and cohesive team environments
- Demonstrated capability to plan, organise, and monitor tasks and projects, including recording, analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data.
