Located along the banks of the Yarra, The City of Stonnington (CoS) is a vibrant and diverse municipality. This position is a pivotal leadership role in the Future Ready City of Stonnington, overseeing the Human Resources and Safety functions of the organisation and providing expertise to the Executive team around developing a thriving and future ready culture to strengthen its operations and delivery.

Key goals will include:
- Lead the contemporary, Human Resources and Safety function and ensure that CoS is a safe and welcoming place to work
- Embed excellent leadership and management principles and actions to develop a growth mindset by demonstrating initiative and taking action
- Provide the expertise and direction required to support the CoS achieve its mission and ensure it is appropriately funded, resourced, and expertly advised
- Lead by example and influence the thinking and behaviour by modelling the organisational values, safety practices and behaviours to make CoS an exceptional place to work
- Create a safe and inclusive culture where staff are highly engaged and empowered to deliver their best work
- Position and enable the CoS to attract, retain and develop talent
- Innovate and improve work practices to promote Council’s sustainability and vitality

We are seeking applications from established, respected People and Culture leaders who bring significant expertise in driving high performance and change. Key to success in this role will be your proven experience in building and leading a contemporary Human Resources and Safety function and of transforming workplace culture that underpins organisational purpose, vision, and strategy.

Of critical importance will be demonstrable experience in uplifting safety maturity and best practices and a willingness to constructively challenge the norms to continuously improve and build a more agile organisation will be critical. Qualifications in Human Resource Management and post Graduate Qualifications in Change Management are desirable.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build a truly sector-leading Human Resources function and to partner with an Executive team who are truly setting new standards for Local Government.
